As you know, your national Funeral Consumers Alliance headquarters is backing HR3655, a federal bill that would expand the Federal Trade Commission’s Funeral Rule to cover cemeteries, crematories, and all sellers of funeral-related goods and services. The bill may be debated in committee as early next week, and we need members like you to help us move it through right away! The bill will be debated in the House Sub-Committee on Consumer Protection. One of the committee members serves your state, and we hope you’ll let him know that as a member of FCA and a Georgia citizen, you urge him to support this landmark bill. It will expand the FTC Funeral Rule to cover cemeteries, crematories and others nationwide. ? All grieving Americans will have the right to printed price lists, freedom of choice in purchasing, and the right to truthful information when buying from a cemetery, crematory, or retailer ? Funeral homes are already required to comply with these rules, but cemeteries are not. Thousands of Americans suffer financially and emotionally because cemeteries don’t have to meet these minimum ethical standards.
